Shuòzhì is a commonly used medicine for treating human orthopedic diseases, and it can be found almost everywhere in rural areas. The whole plant of shuòzhì can be used as medicine, and it has high medicinal value. When treating different diseases, we also need to use different parts of the herb.
1. Accelerating fracture healing
Rabbit fractures were artificially created and fixed with splints. External application of powdered shuòzhì (soaked in alcohol) was changed once every 3 days.
Internal administration of shuòzhì decoction was taken daily. At the end of the 4th week, there was a significant amount of dense bone callus and obvious calcification (X-ray). Tissue sections showed that the large bone callus tissue had mostly ossified, and a large number of bone trabeculae had formed.
Phosphorus-32 was injected into the local hematoma of the fracture, and after applying shuòzhì, the pulse dissipation rate was fast, indicating a "blood activation and stasis dispersal" effect.
The deposition of phosphorus in the tissue was also higher than that in the control group, indicating that shuòzhì could promote the deposition of phosphorus in the bone callus and accelerate fracture healing.
2. Anti-inflammatory effect
External application of shuòzhì alcohol paste on rabbits did not cause local blood vessel dilation.
The decoction had no significant effect on the contraction of blood vessels in frog limbs, but higher concentrations had a significant contracting effect on rabbit ear blood vessels in vitro. The ointment also showed a mild reduction in capillary permeability in experiments on rabbits and mice.
These effects may be related to its anti-inflammatory effects.
3. Other effects
The shuòzhì decoction did not show analgesic effects in the hot plate test on mice, and it had no inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli in vitro.
