【Morphology of Olive Root】
The olive tree is an evergreen tree that grows up to 10-20m tall.
It produces a sticky and fragrant resin. The bark is light gray and smooth; the young branches, petioles, and leaf rings are covered in very short hairs and have lenticels.
The odd-pinnate compound leaves are alternate, 15-30cm long; the leaflets are elliptic-lanceolate, 6-15cm long, 2.5-5cm wide, gradually pointed at the tip, inclined at the base, with entire margins, smooth, and with prominent veins on both sides, with small pits on the lower side of the veins, slightly rough.
The cone-shaped inflorescences are terminal or axillary, as long as the leaves or slightly shorter; the calyx is cup-shaped, 3 shallowly lobed or rarely 5 lobed; the petals are 3-5, white, fragrant, about twice as long as the calyx; the stamens are 6, inserted on the outside of the ring-shaped disc; the pistil is 1, with a superior ovary.
The drupe is ovoid, about 3cm long, initially yellow-green, then turning yellow-white, with sharp tips at both ends. The flowering period is from May to July, and the fruiting period is from August to October.
