Characteristics of Malabar Plum
The fruit is composed of multiple fused drupes, resembling a pine cone, about 4cm long and 3-4cm in diameter. The base is swollen, with a purple-brown outer surface and a brown inner surface.
After the drupes split, two dark purple-red seeds can be seen. Peeling away the seed coat reveals a grayish-white, oily cotyledon with a fragrant aroma and a mild taste. It is best to select dried fruits that are intact and not broken.
Using Malabar Plum to Make Porridge for Insomnia
Combine 60g of Malabar plum, 60g of peeled foxnut, and a fresh lotus leaf (the size of a palm) with an appropriate amount of glutinous rice to make porridge.
This porridge is used to treat weak spleen and stomach with loose stools, palpitations, irregular sleep, and women with lower back pain and excessive vaginal discharge, as well as those with weak constitution.
