Growth environment of Chisheng San
1. Umbel-flowered Chisheng San
The main difference between this variant and the original species is that the base of the leaves is concave, forming two small lobed segments or unlobed segments.
It is produced in various parts of Guizhou; it is often cultivated near residential areas. It is distributed in Yunnan, Sichuan, Hubei, Jiangxi. Its uses are the same as the original species.
2. Chinese Chisheng San
Differences from the true species: Both sides of the leaves are covered with long soft hairs; the margin hairs of the leaf sheath are very short or almost absent. The peduncle of the inflorescence has fine soft hairs and few glandular hairs.
The fruit is black. Flowering period is from April to August; fruit ripening period is from August to October. It is produced in the Funiu Mountains in Henan; it grows in shady and humid places at an altitude of over 1000 meters.
It is distributed in Hubei, Yunnan, Sichuan, Hunan, Shaanxi, and other provinces. The whole plant is used as medicine and has the effects of promoting blood circulation, dispersing blood stasis, reducing swelling, and relieving pain. It is mainly used to treat trauma, fatigue, and snake bites. The whole plant can also be used as fodder.

Distribution of resources: It is produced in Lushan and other places. It grows in valleys and ditches at an altitude of 500 to 1500 meters. It is distributed in Shaanxi, Gansu, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Sichuan, and other provinces.
Habitat distribution: It grows in grass clusters and damp places along ditches.
