The Sea Zostera is secreted by the calcareous skeleton of the sand zoster body.
The sand zoster (as recorded in "Lingbiao Lv Yi") is columnar in shape and can grow over 1 meter long. It consists of two parts: the root and the stem. The root is a cylindrical handle that is often inserted into the sediment on the seabed. The stem is a flattened axis with short and dense branch-like structures on both sides, and numerous water worms are arranged along the lower edge. Each water worm has 8 tentacles that can stretch and contract. The skeleton is made of horny material and is white, with a black-brown or red flesh covering.
The Sea Zostera is mainly found in underwater reefs. It is widely distributed and can be found in almost all soft seabeds south of Jiaozhou Bay in China.
