1. Propagation by Acorus calamus seeds

Acorus calamus can generally be propagated by sowing seeds in early spring, around late February or mid-March. The seeds should be evenly sown on the seedbed, covered with about 2 centimeters of soil, and watered to maintain moisture.

It takes about 15 days for the seedlings to emerge. After emergence, thinning should be done, weeds should be removed, the soil should be loosened, and watering should be done. Planting can be done around late April or mid-May each year.

If direct sowing is used for Acorus calamus, the general sowing time is between mid-March and mid-April each year. After sowing, cover the seeds with 2 centimeters of soil, water them, and the seedlings will emerge in about half a month.

2. Propagation by dividing Acorus calamus roots

Acorus calamus can be divided before the seedlings of Acorus calamus sprout in early spring each year.

Dig out the underground part of Acorus calamus, then cut the rhizomes of Acorus calamus into small pieces and plant them. After planting, water them to keep the soil moist. The seedlings will emerge in about half a month.
