Source: Dajiugu Niu Dobinea delavayi (Baill.) Engl., a plant belonging to the Aceraceae family, is used medicinally for its roots.
It is collected and dug in winter and the following spring of the second year, cleaned, sliced, and dried in the sun.
Properties and taste: Slightly bitter, cooling.
Main functions: Clears heat and detoxifies, relieves pain, stops coughing. Used for lung heat cough, parotitis, mastitis, carbuncle, and abscess.
Dosage: 1-5 qian. For external use, apply an appropriate amount and mix with honey or vinegar before applying to the affected area.

① Treatment for lung heat cough: Dajiugu Niu root (peeled) 5 qian, Xianglingcao 2 qian, Wacao 2 qian. Grind them together into a powder, take 2 qian each time, twice a day.
② Treatment for mastitis, parotitis, carbuncle, and abscess: Dajiugu Niu, Chonglou, Baiji, Xiaozhanyao, Wuxiang Xueteng, equal parts powdered and mixed, apply externally with honey or vinegar.
