【Discussions on Gu Sui Bu in Various Medical Books】
1. "Pharmacology of Medicinal Properties": It is used for bone poisoning, wind-blood pain, exhaustion from overwork, inability to close the mouth (or hand), and hot upper body and cold lower body.
2. "Ri Hua Zi Ben Cao": It is used to treat malignant ulcers, corroded and rotten flesh, and kill parasites.
3. "Kai Bao Ben Cao": It is used to treat broken blood vessels, stop bleeding, and promote healing of injuries and fractures.
4. "Ben Cao Zheng": It is used to treat bone pathogen toxins, wind-heat pain, or wind-dampness due to external invasion that leads to weakness and pain in both feet.
5. "Ben Cao Shu": It is used to treat lower back pain and numbness, wind paralysis, excessive diarrhea, urinary disorders, and prolapse of the anus.
6. "Guangxi Journal of Chinese Medicine": It is used to treat malnutrition in children.
7. "Sichuan Journal of Chinese Medicine": It is used to dispel dampness and regulate menstruation.
8. "Gang Mu": Gu Sui Bu can enter the bones to treat tooth problems and prolonged diarrhea. In the past, there was a person named Wei who had prolonged diarrhea and no doctors could help. I gave him this medicine, cooked it with pig kidneys and let him eat it, and it stopped. The kidneys are in charge of urination and defecation. Prolonged diarrhea is associated with kidney deficiency and should not be solely addressed by the spleen and stomach. "Lei Gong Pao Zhi Lun" uses this formula to treat tinnitus, which is also related to the kidneys. According to Dai Yuan Li's "Essentials of Diagnosis and Treatment", after diarrhea and deficiency, if not well-taken care of or due to long-distance travel, excessive sexual activity, or external invasion, it can lead to weakness and pain in both feet, becoming a condition called "Li Feng". It is appropriate to use the "Duhuo Jisheng Tang" and "Swallowing Tiger Bone Four Catty Pills" and add one-third of Gu Sui Bu to grind together, extract the juice, dissolve it in alcohol and take it orally, and frequently use a decoction of Du Niuxi, Shanmu Jie, Bi Xie, Bai Zhi, and Nan Xing for fumigation and washing. This is also a treatment for kidney deficiency and bone weakness.
9. "Ben Cao Qiu Zhen": Although Gu Sui Bu is similar to Bu Gu Zhi in some ways, it is not as effective in tonifying the kidneys and promoting heart function, nor does it have the ability to dispel stasis and break up blood clots.
10. "Ben Jing Xu Shu": Gu Sui Bu (from "Kai Bao Ben Cao") is used to break up blood clots, stop bleeding, and promote healing of injuries and fractures, meaning it can prevent stagnation and promote circulation, and repair injuries and fractures as if they were never injured or fractured in the first place.
